Claire is eight months!

November 20, 2011

The time between Claire’s newborn session and eight-month session seemed to pass before I could blink.  She’s zooming around the house on her hands and knees, gobbling down all of her delicious homemade baby food, cruising by holding on to her daddy’s fingers and pulling up in her crib… and on anything else that will give her leverage.  She’s toddling her way into toddler-hood and just smart, sweet and beautiful.  One of the neatest things for me to witness is a parent’s pride for their baby, and Lydia and Eric were brimming. And, it’s simply beautiful and endearing.  You’ll see what I mean in just a bit — their love, pride and happiness really shines.

Claire had been so sick for the week leading up to our session and still wasn’t feeling great while I was there, and well… she let me know she was done and ready for the nap she had been promised.  And, this is one of my favorite pics from the session…

Family time… the Ls

December 4, 2010

I met my friend Olga at a wine tasting party about three years ago, and I’m so glad I did because she’s one of the most beautiful people I know.  (Eileen and Michael – if you’re reading this, thank you again for inviting us and we miss you!)  She’s brilliant, an artist, a savvy marketing guru, a superb cook and on top of that, she has the kindest and warmest soul.  I adore this woman — and I adore her family.  Her husband Scot balances her completely and their kids are perfect mirrors of their parents –  Rowan is laid back and just the sweetest eleven-year-old I’ve ever met and Tegwyn is feisty and passionate like her momma.  Sarah Bernhardt fails in comparison to this child’s dramatic prowess.

Last weekend, we met at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano.  It turns out that I have a hard time keeping photo sessions with friends I haven’t seen in what feels like ages short… and I have a hard time culling them down.  So… it’s a massive post, but here are my favorites from our time together… and a couple that I let the kids choreograph.

Olga and Scot – thank you!  Harper and I are looking forward to a cookie-baking date soon!

Two cold, hungry kiddos.  Tegwyn and Rowan – thanks for playing with me!

On the blog this weekend… my friends Olga and Scot’s gorgeous family with their uber-cute kiddos Tegwyn and Rowan. Here’s a quick peek…

Andrew is one!

October 28, 2010

Andrew = thirteen months and a cute, cute, cute doctor in the making!  He was sick on his actual birthday (and slept through his birthday party), so his parents invited me over for a delayed traditional Korean Doljanchi — a one-year birthday celebration that included a colorful feast of sweets and fruit and a fortune ritual for this sweet little guy to predict his life’s path.  He immediately chose the stethoscope when he was presented with his tray of options, but pushed the money away, so I’m predicting he’ll be a doctor who serves under-served populations… a great and noble combination!  It’s a long post, but I just couldn’t narrow it down any further… I’m just smitten with Andrew and can’t wait for Harper to meet him!  Soon…

Thank you, Womi and Ingu — I hope to see you again soon!

Love: Lydia and Eric

August 19, 2010

Long-time best friends turned lovers, Lydia and Eric have been married just over a year and are absolutely head-over-heels for each other.  Looking forward to new chapters in their life, but wanting to remember some of the first, they met me for a photo session while they were still two –  at the dock where they had their first date, where Eric proposed, and where they’ve had many dates since and in-between. These two are completely in-sync, love to laugh, are committed to romance, and are just… fun!  It was such a joy to help them capture this moment in their lives and I look forward to watching this sweet family grow.

Thank you, Lydia and Eric!  Much love to both of you!

Married for a year, in-love more than ever and looking forward to exciting adventures as a family.  Just a sneak peek… stay tuned!

Newborn: Oliver

August 6, 2010

I LOVE photographing newborns.  I love every stage and age, but newborn was one of my favorites and I need my fix every once-in-a-while.  So, I was over the moon when Holly and Nathan recently invited me to get that fix with eight-day-old Oliver… who, by the way, is probably the most laid-back, easy-going newborn I’ve met — ever.  We had a fun, full session and this little guy just took it in stride and even fell asleep on cue so we could curl him up in a bed of mint.

Oliver’s daddy wore this little crocheted outfit when he was a baby.

One of Oliver’s grandmother’s knitted this blanket for him.  I love the colors!

mmmm… minty-fresh baby…

Holly and Nathan – thank you so very much!  I adore your little guy and hope to see your family again soon! – Crystalyn

I have too many emotions about this moment to do it justice in words.  It’s my first birth photography experience and one that I will forever cherish. One that I hope will open doors to many, many more.  Look for a longer post this weekend.  For now, a sneak peek of Max, just 30-minutes new with his joyful parents Karen and Erick.

Royce and Joyce are celebrating 40 years of marriage in just a few days, and I’m so honored to have had the opportunity to help them celebrate!  I marvel at their strength as a couple and family and really enjoyed catching up with them as we braved unusually steamy San Angelo weather and tromped around the Train Museum, Paintbrush Alley and the Sunken Gardens over the July 4 holiday.

Their grandchildren are beyond gorgeous and each have big personalities — both huge camera magnets!

Happy 40th wedding anniversary to a beautiful couple!  I loved seeing all of you and hope to see you at church the next time we’re in town!

Royce and Joyce are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary later this month.  In celebration, Joyce wanted photos with her kids and grandkids, so we met up for a photo shoot while I was in San Angelo visiting family over the Independence Day holiday weekend.  This is just a quick sneak peek from our time together.  The full post will be up next week.  Stay tuned…
