Claire is eight months!
November 20, 2011
The time between Claire’s newborn session and eight-month session seemed to pass before I could blink. She’s zooming around the house on her hands and knees, gobbling down all of her delicious homemade baby food, cruising by holding on to her daddy’s fingers and pulling up in her crib… and on anything else that will give her leverage. She’s toddling her way into toddler-hood and just smart, sweet and beautiful. One of the neatest things for me to witness is a parent’s pride for their baby, and Lydia and Eric were brimming. And, it’s simply beautiful and endearing. You’ll see what I mean in just a bit — their love, pride and happiness really shines.
Claire had been so sick for the week leading up to our session and still wasn’t feeling great while I was there, and well… she let me know she was done and ready for the nap she had been promised. And, this is one of my favorite pics from the session…
Lydia and Eric – thank you again! I hope to see you three again soon! — Crystalyn
Jack is a newborn!
January 27, 2011
Before he was born, Harper and I spent time with sweet little Jack’s mommy and big sister on a weekly basis at our local recreation center and I just loved watching this little guy’s momma grow and couldn’t wait to meet newborn Jack. I popped over one day in mid-December to meet this little guy and it was love at first site. He’s so warm and cuddly and completely adored by his family, especially his proud big sister, Dublin!
Austin is six months!
January 18, 2011
When Austin’s Aunt Sarah told me he was a perfect cherub and I’d melt when I saw him, I don’t think I fully believed her. And then when I saw him, I immediately melted. This little guy is angelic! He looks just like his daddy, but has his mother’s beauty and grace… and is one of the happiest and easy-going babies I think I’ve ever met.
Austin and his mom MaryBeth live in Houston but drove up to Dallas to visit her sister and brother, and for Austin’s six-month photo session. We met at his great-aunt’s charming for a quick session, and I’m sharing my favorites (and one at the bottom that I just can’t resist posting of his cousin Eleanor).

MaryBeth – it was great to see you and Austin. Thank you so very much! I hope to see your family again soon!
Vivian is almost one!
December 2, 2010
Vivian is one of the newest and youngest members of our neighborhood playgroup and simply sweet. I met her mom Alicia near the dairy case at our local Whole Foods, and then again by the register and then again in the parking lot I just felt a connection was meant to be, so I invited her to join our weekly gatherings, she took me up on it… and I’m so glad she did. She’s such a warm and caring soul and she and Vivian made an instant connection with our neighborhood family.
Alicia is a beautiful photographer with an intense love for film and and the darkroom process… something I dearly miss, so I was doubly flattered (and a little extra nervous) when she invited me into her home to photograph their family in honor of Vivian’s first year. But… it was fun! We read books, played pool and explored the crunchy autumn leaves on the lawn. And as it turns out, Vivian is quite possibly the most laid-back eleven-month-old EVER. She rolled with the session without a single fuss!
Alicia and BJ – thank you, thank you! I know the holidays are busy for all of us, but we hope to see you before Christmas!
Max was a newborn!
November 8, 2010
But not anymore… now, he’s all grown up and more than three months old! And… that means I’m terribly slow with getting this post on my blog!
I first met Max at his birth… as I was choking back tears so that I could focus on capturing his entry into the world and his first moments with his mom and dad. When I wanted a little more time with him and a few pictures after he had a couple of days to settle into his big, new world, so I popped over one afternoon to grab some shots. A houseful of family members had arrived minutes before I did, so I sneaked upstairs with Max, his 2-year-old brother Ethan and his mom and dad for a super-quick photo session. These two brothers are going to be the best of friends when they grow up… just days old, Max was already being introduced to the world of planes, trains and automobiles by his doting older brother.
Here are a few images from our time together. Karen and Erick… thank you, thank you, thank you! I adore your sweet family!
Andrew is one!
October 28, 2010
Andrew = thirteen months and a cute, cute, cute doctor in the making! He was sick on his actual birthday (and slept through his birthday party), so his parents invited me over for a delayed traditional Korean Doljanchi — a one-year birthday celebration that included a colorful feast of sweets and fruit and a fortune ritual for this sweet little guy to predict his life’s path. He immediately chose the stethoscope when he was presented with his tray of options, but pushed the money away, so I’m predicting he’ll be a doctor who serves under-served populations… a great and noble combination! It’s a long post, but I just couldn’t narrow it down any further… I’m just smitten with Andrew and can’t wait for Harper to meet him! Soon…
Thank you, Womi and Ingu — I hope to see you again soon!
Shadia is one!
October 23, 2010
I first met Shadia when she joined her mommy for her first time at our neighborhood playgroup about a year ago. She was barely a couple of months old – the youngest in our group at the time. Now, she’s all grown up… in baby terms. She’s a toddler… laid back, curious and always fun to be around. My daughter has been enamored with her since the day they met and I feel so very fortunate to be able to call her mommy and daddy some of my closest friends.
I recently met up with Shadia and her mom and dad at Cottonwood Park as they read some of Shadia’s favorite books, talked about the ducks and birds, played with scarves and took a couple of nursing breaks… which led to my favorite photo from their session – a tender nursing moment between Shadia and her mommy.
Laurel and Fouad – thank you, thank you! I’m so glad our little neighborhood and our daughters have brought our families together!
Jackson is two!
August 30, 2010
Remember sweet little one-year-old Jackson from last autumn? He’s still the same sweet guy, but boy has he grown! This big guy will be two in mid-September so we recently spent an evening on the town capturing this uber-active tot in action. We had a jam-packed evening: we played, explored, cooled off with sorbet and ended our evening together with a quick trip to the mall. Jackson was a trooper. I was tuckered (he’s the most active tot I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting!) And his parents Julianna and Michael will forever be in my book of super parents.
*that’s a wrap*
Thanks, Julianna and Michael! Please bring Jackson to play with Harper soon!!
Sarah is 14 months!
August 10, 2010
Constantly on the move with places to go and things to do, Sarah is a fireball of energy – and an absolute hoot. She’s a very busy little lady who doesn’t sit still for even a second, so her mom, Lana and dad, Jason are constantly on the move. Who needs a gym when you have a tot?!
I absolutely love this sweet family and have grown to know them as an extension of ours. They live just down the street from us, and Harper and Sarah play often, giving all of us a chance to relax while our daughters expend their energy. They make up a strong piece of our village, and I’m so grateful to have such great neighbors. Lana and I enjoy cooking and constantly strive to include more nutrition in our daughter’s diets, so we’re often seen dashing across the street with a piping hot container of new or tried and true recipes to help take the some of the cooking burden off of each other. And Jason loves gardening as much as I do (if not more) so we enjoy chats about what veggies we should/shouldn’t plant and how to solve any gardening dilemmas. Jason’s current problem? He has more banana peppers and jalapenos than he knows what to do with! So.. friends and neighbors, if you need some, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you hit him up. And anybody else — if you have good recipes that use banana peppers, please share!
Here are a few favorites from Sarah’s 14-month session near the Eisemann Center in Richardson. To see pics of Sarah from her six and seven month sessions, click here and here.
Newborn: Oliver
August 6, 2010
I LOVE photographing newborns. I love every stage and age, but newborn was one of my favorites and I need my fix every once-in-a-while. So, I was over the moon when Holly and Nathan recently invited me to get that fix with eight-day-old Oliver… who, by the way, is probably the most laid-back, easy-going newborn I’ve met — ever. We had a fun, full session and this little guy just took it in stride and even fell asleep on cue so we could curl him up in a bed of mint.
Oliver’s daddy wore this little crocheted outfit when he was a baby.

One of Oliver’s grandmother’s knitted this blanket for him. I love the colors!

Holly and Nathan – thank you so very much! I adore your little guy and hope to see your family again soon! – Crystalyn
