A noon break from wedding preparations.  The sun was high and warm. The goal lines were loose.  The game was serious.

The wedding couple had just settled into the river chairs to soak in each other just one more time before the ceremony, when…

From across the lawn, a thick Romanian accent yelled “Heineken!”

My husband met Kristi while they were both studying at Savannah College of Art and Design. I distinctly remember the first time I saw her. Seven years ago this coming March, she was patiently waiting in her car to pick us up from the airport so we could help celebrate her 28th birthday over a friend-filled weekend of camping on the banks of Big Sur. Warm, welcoming, inviting, genuine, she’s a forever friend… one that you can pick up a conversation with after months and even years of being away.

When we got her email saying she and Eric were engaged and asking us to photograph her wedding on her hallowed banks of Big Sur, we were honored, ecstatic… nervous.  Eager to meet her other half, her split-apart; nervous about photographing our first wedding.

We were embraced by friends and family.  Surrounded by true, genuine love.  And witnessed one of the sweetest, most beautiful unions of two souls and their families and friends.

And over the course of this weekend, we knew that these two were perfect for each other… in their love, their perfection and their flaws.

Eric and Kristi – thank you. We love you both and are SO THRILLED you’re moving to TEXAS!!!  We foresee many camping trips and hikes in our future!

For now, here are a few snaps from the rehearsal dinner and after party. The fun before the wedding, the wedding and reception will follow over the next few weeks.

Namaste.

Happy Holidays!

I’m still here.

October 29, 2012

It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  I carried my 366 project for six full months.  It was fun, but I started feeling out-of-touch… more as an observer and less of a participant. I needed to focus a little less on seeing and concentrate more on feeling and simply being. I didn’t want to leave moments with my little loves to grab my camera or to carry its bulk everywhere we went. I was feeling disconnected and needed to spend the time reconnecting. I did, and it’s been good.

The full six months didn’t make the blog… I started craving a little more anonymity.  What’s posted will be thinned as I ready this space to be transitioned to a new one.

In the meantime, I’m committed to reviving this space.  Stay tuned for good things to come.

(I know it can be harmful, but it was a tiny piece, and he didn’t touch it.)

June 7, 2012

A birthday tradition… nearly a month late.

2012 366: Day 158

June 6, 2012

A torrential downpour during our weekly neighborhood play date. A dance and cuddle in the rain.  We all went home completely soaked.  And happy.
